As a Director of Hagenuk in Kiel, Germany, Shocair worked at the forefront of wireless communications hardware. Hagenuk developed pioneering technologies including the world’s first internal planar antenna for lower-radiation GSM mobile phones, multi-cell DECT systems with seamless handover and roaming, and DECT-ISDN semiconductors.
During this period, Hagenuk manufactured the premium Ferrari F10 GSM phone, first offered to Ferrari owners and later sold through Telecom Italia Mobile. The company sponsored Ferrari Formula 1 and the Joest Racing Porsche that won the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans.
He was also the first to demonstrate the authorization of a wireless credit-card transaction over a wireless network at the Visa Corporation in San Mateo, CA, an important proof point in the emergence of mobile payments. At CommQuest Semiconductor, he structured and supported the acquisition and integration of long-range wireless Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum baseband semiconductors from Cincinnati Microwave and developed CommQuest’s OEM business across Asian mobile-handset manufacturers.
